A childhood sweethearts story

This is Jade’s fairy-tale story…

Jamie and I have been in a relationship for over eleven and a half years and love each other to the moon and back however, our first few meetings did not go so smoothly!! We first met when we were 15 years old at a charity boat race and took an immediate dislike to each other. We could not stand each other!! In time, we realised that our parents were family friends and Jamie and I had many mutual friends in common which made avoiding each other difficult! It took two years of us actively avoiding each other before we met again at 17 years old and have since never left each other’s side. It was quite tricky having to then tell our families and many mutual friends that we actually liked each other very much! Despite attending different schools and subsequently different universities we managed to make our relationship work and truly consider ourselves best friends. Our wedding was a truly magical weekend of celebrations.

We were married on 18th June 2016 at St Peter’s Church, Slinfold, West Sussex. We chose this church as it is a truly beautiful church within close proximity of my family home. Our wedding followed a more traditional format overall but we did have some unusual twists to make it our own. One point of difference was the song played as I walked up the aisle to Sigur Rós – Hoppípolla which brought a lot of emotion to our all attendees. Jamie’s brothers and father read beautiful readings in church making it a very happy and joyful service which everyone enjoyed.

Our party of 140 guests then returned to reception which was held at my Father’s house near Horsham, West Sussex. We started off the reception outside the marquee in the sunshine and decided to have a longer reception with lots of delicious and beautifully presented canapes.

After the reception, we all went into the marquee for speeches.  We had 3 speeches from the bride’s father, groom and best man. These were such fun and flowed perfectly. Everyone enjoyed them hugely actually some guests are still laughing at the jokes which is wonderful!
We decided not to have a starter as we wanted more yummy canapes so we skipped straight to the main course.

Main course
Fillet of West Country beef with rosemary and garlic potato galette, asparagus and extra fine beans beef jus and individual pots of bearnaise sauce

‘Melanzane parmigiana’ Aubergine and tomato sauce and buffalo mozzarella with parmesan gnocchi and chargrilled vegetables

For puddings, we provided the wedding cake from Paul’s but Jacaranda selected 3 mini puddings per person:
Chocolate mousse
Mini lemon meringue pie
Pomegranate and elderflower jelly with lemon posset and meringue

Every single guest thought the food was the best they have ever had at a wedding. Every dish was sensational, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection which is a huge achievement for such a large party. Jacaranda were also able to accommodate all of the special dietary requirements which made our guests concerned feel immensely special and touched.

If someone asked me what our favourite parts of the day were, I would find this very difficult!! I would say that our favourite moments were our church service, the food and dancing.

A few special comments from Jade:
Jacaranda are the best-in-class, but I have to credit Minty the Senior Event Manager for her immense support. She made our wedding celebrations unforgettable. Nothing was ever a problem or too much. She is incredibly experienced, talented and kind. She was able to answer all my questions (and there were many!) consistently going above and beyond expectations. She also made the effort in the first stages of planning to come see me in London at my office to meet me personally which I appreciated greatly. Minty was also able to recommend excellent suppliers local to West Sussex such as DJ, lighting hire company… Minty ran our weekend of celebrations faultlessly and her team of waiters/bar staff were impeccable, very friendly and helpful. She honestly is the best at what she does and should we plan other party, we would love Minty to help us. It should also be called out that Jacaranda’s team provided us with the most delicious food, every single guest was blown away by how perfect all the food (canapés, mains, puddings, next day bbq…) were. Not only was everything delicious but it was prepared and presented beautifully. Many of our guests commented that this was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. It should also be noted that Jacaranda have a sister company: South Downs Marquees which Minty recommended to me and all our compliments should be extended to them as they were simply wonderful too. Again, we would work with both over and over!! We could not recommend them highly enough.
