Roanna Cochrane and Simon Phillips – 1st October 2016 – Ramster Hall
Where did you hold your wedding and why did you choose this venue?
“Simon and I met in Guildford, so we decided to search for venues in the neighbouring
countryside. On our first visit, we immediately knew Ramster Hall in Chiddingfold would
be our wedding venue — it just felt magical. It’s an authentic, English country house with
a gorgeous and rustic tithe-style barn. We also hoped choosing a quintessentially
English venue would especially be a real plus for our Canadian guests. And of course
the catering company was important but we’d read so many positive reviews about
Jacaranda that we knew we had our perfect combination of caterer and venue.”
If you had to sum up your wedding in one sentence, what would it be?
“A whimsical Midsummer Night’s Dream themed wedding with lots and lots of music!”
How many guests did you have?
“120 and a further 30 evening guests”
Were there any notable speeches/music/readings or particularly memorable moments?
“A highlight was my Dad singing Crosby, Stills and Nash’s ‘Teach Your Children’ at the
Church service at St Nicholas in Compton. He had recently recovered from a serious
illness that threatened losing his speech and he was brave enough to sing just months
post surgery. It brought the house down!”
What did you choose to have on your menu?
“We went with the Summer BBQ and standing starters as we wanted to keep the meal as
informal as possible so that our guests could mingle, help themselves to food and keep
the night as social as possible. The chocolate torte dessert was a smashing success.
And the pulled pork rolls in the evening worked a treat. We had so many positive
comments about the food and the service!”
What was your favourite part of the day?
“Of course, walking down the aisle was a real highlight for me. Seeing everyone’s smiling
faces, it was overwhelming and wonderful. I giggled my way down the aisle and nearly
fell over with giddiness!”
How did Jacaranda help make your day special?
“Jacaranda were so much more than just caterers to us. JJ was our wedding planner and
he went above and beyond with his help and advice along the way. He was involved in
everything from helping source the alcohol to the finer details like the beautiful flowers in
the canapé trays. We even won a free Pimms reception through a competition with
Jacaranda! The most special thing that Jacaranda did that I won’t forget is to set us
aside a secret room with champagne and canapés in that no-one but Simon and I knew
about. Whenever we wanted a quiet moment away from everyone, we snuck out and
had a glass of champagne together. That was such a special time and we won’t forget
how thoughtful that was of JJ to do that for us. JJ rocks!
It is so easy to get worked up about your wedding day and you have such high
expectations that it is hard to reach them but I can honestly say that our wedding day
totally exceeded those expectations and more. Thank you so much to JJ and the team at
Jacaranda for making that possible and for giving us memories that we’ll cherish forever.
We couldn’t recommend Jacaranda more.”
