Jacaranda Visit JSW Restaurant

Image: JSW

Ian and Jamie recently took Daniel, our apprentice chef, to the JSW restaurant in Petersfield as a well done for successfully completing his first year with Jacaranda. Whilst obviously it’s nice to show our appreciation for our staff, the chefs really enjoy visiting special places like JSW in order to know what’s cooking in the best restaurants in our region.

JSW, short for Jake Saul Watkins, is a highly stylish yet simple restaurant owned and run by an old friend of Ian’s with whom he worked many years ago in a restaurant in the square in Winchester.

The 17th century former coaching inn hits all the right notes, being both beautifully decorated, thoughtfully presented and offering Michelin star food for sensible prices. There are even a few stylish letting rooms upstairs for those weary diners who cannot face going home after a hearty meal.

To make the most of the experience, the boys decided not to just sample the usual two or four course lunch or dinner menus and instead opted for a 7 course tasting menu, which included:

Scallops, Cauliflower Cheese & Cep Pearls
~
Salmon with Pickled Vegetables & Salted Apple Puree
~
Shallot Tarte Tatin with Goats Cheese

Pork Cooked Two Ways with Black Pudding Crust & Cumin
~
Slow Cooked Lamb with Root Vegetables & Garlic Croquette

Earl Grey Tea Pannacotta with Gariguette Strawberries
~
Rhubarb & Ginger Cheesecake

Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?! Ian, Jamie and Daniel all assured us that the menu was absolutely sublime and thoroughly recommended, so we look forward to our invite to JSW next time!
