A Marathon Summer

It can sometimes feel like wedding season is a bit like running a marathon for our Jacaranda team: constantly setting up, striking and organising events all over Hampshire, Surrey and West Sussex, working long hours to ensure we exceed every client’s expectations and constantly striving to do our best.

As such, we tend to find that our event managers’ lives here at Jacaranda can get very hectic and tiring during the summer months. You’d think that when they’re not running around the county setting up weddings and events for our clients that they’d want to enjoy some downtime, but that’s not so. In fact, some of our team ramp up their efforts to try different ways to keep fit in their spare time.

One such person is Nigel Findlay, our operations manager, who decided to compete in the Toshiba Windsor Triathlon recently. On Sunday 15th June, following a picturesque wedding in Bosham the night before, Nigel lined up next to the Thames in his fetching wetsuit, ready to put his body through its paces.

Jacaranda Catering Windsor Triathalon_002At an eye-watering 7.40am, Nigel plunged into the chilly depths of the river for a 1500m swim, then hopped on a bike for a 25 mile ride around Windsor and the Great Park, followed by a 10km run through the town streets, looping past the historic Windsor castle three times.

We’re delighted to say that Nigel came through to tell the tale and, shattered but still alive, he achieved a personal best time of 3½ hours. We of course would have been there cheering him on every inch of the way, had we not been in bed…

The Toshiba Windsor Triathlon has been awarded the BTF’s ‘Event of the Year’ a remarkable seven times. If you want to find out more regarding such events please go to the Human Race website.
