“The diary of a wedding planner” part 2:

As the season is fast approaching, I thought I would write another post before I am in full wedding mode.

In my first confession, I wrote about some of the weddings and events I had been lucky enough to be a part of and will never forget. I also revealed a little about what happens behind the scenes and the interesting people I get to work with which is where I would like to start.

We work with a huge amount of talented people, from florists, photographers, event planners, mixologists, bands, dj’s, linen suppliers, event hire and marquees companies, I could go on. However, I would like to mention a group of people who aren’t so much in the limelight in the wedding and events industry as much as others. This is because you never see them. You hear about the amazing produce that they provide, the colourful plates that are delivered and you read the thank you letters from your guests hearing about how delicious the food was. I am of course talking about the ‘The Chefs’.

‘The Chef’ has always had this bad reputation of being arrogant and bad tempered but I am not sure this is entirely fair. They are a rare breed of men and women who can be so irritating with their whistling down the phone and constant bad jokes. They can be so rude with comments on what I’m wearing like my smart black jumpsuit, or my pyjamas as they like to call them! They can make you laugh and they can make you cry.

However, one thing that the chefs I know can do is deliver incredible food, weekend after weekend, year after year that gets talked about for months after the event. How on earth are normal people meant to cook fillet of beef to absolute perfection for 300 people, making sure that every single plate going out of that kitchen is just as good as the first one, I do not know! But then the chefs I know aren’t that normal.

An enormous amount of time, effort and skill goes into each event, not just on the day but also in the weeks building up to it. We never forget that without our hard working, talented brigade of chefs we wouldn’t be as successful as we are today.

Therefore, I would like to dedicate this post to our team of weird and wonderful chefs. Jamie, Dan, Jago, Potty, Barney, Paul, Dom and Paella Pete, not forgetting our seasonal chefs either, thank you for what you do and here’s to a great summer.
