Here at Jacaranda, we try to plan ahead for every eventuality that could possibly happen at an event. However, when David and Claire got married at Ramster Hall in May earlier this year, none of us could have been prepared for the fact that the groom would suffer an attack of kidney stones and require the assistance of three separate teams of paramedics throughout the day!
Luckily, their event manager Minty kept cool and calm throughout the whole day, ensuring that the couple had everything they needed. Even as David took time out to be treated with gas and air, Minty guaranteed that their wedding breakfast proceeded without a hitch. The new Mr & Mrs Pike dropped us a line of thanks…
“Dear Minty,
I am sorry it has taken me so long to write to you, but Claire and I would like to say a special thank you for your performance on our wedding day.
I am sure by now you are in a very busy part of your wedding season, but you will probably still remember our wedding at Ramster Hall on the 4th May this year for the wrong reasons! Thank you so much for your help on the day, which was definitely over and above your normal roll. After various check-ups the kidney stones seem to have passed so I should soon get the all clear.
Whilst co-ordinating the entire wedding breakfast and serving of drinks throughout the day, you had to assist with calling for medical help, delaying courses whilst I was being treated by the paramedics and find milk drinks and bicarbonate soda to treat my symptoms. Whilst liaising with my sister and trying to make sure I was as comfortable as possible, you were still in the kitchen making sure the food was served correctly and making sure the waiting staff were keeping up with their normal high standards. You really did perform incredibly on the day for us, and everyone has commented on the food being very good, including our New Zealand members of family who mentioned the lamb!
Another personal favourite of the day for me was the way you co-ordinated the starter, so that as the singers processed out, the waiters processed in with the first course. It was perfect timing. You also liaised with us throughout to make sure everything went to plan on our special day.

David and Claire had chosen a menu that simply couldn’t go to waste, so we did everything to make sure that their guests received our normal exemplary service around David’s medical treatment. As such, they were able to enjoy:

Tomato tart tatin with rocket pesto, creamed goats cheese and wild rocket salad
Artisan Ciabatta bread with extra virgin olive oil

Butterflied legs of Southdowns lamb with rosemary and garlic, cooked over charcoal & served with potato gallette, chefs seasonal vegetables, and a lamb & rosemary jus

Wild mushroom strudel with a Mediterranean vegetable & goats cheese tian and a tomato & rosemary dressing

Chocolate caramel torte with milk ice cream and blackcurrant syrup
We’re delighted to say that David made a full recovery and that the newlyweds managed to jet off to Crete for their honeymoon after David had been thoroughly discharged. We’d also like to thank David and Claire for their kind words of appreciation and for allowing us to share there somewhat unusual story here on the blog!
