As you know, Jacaranda are a company that pride ourselves on using fresh, local, organic produce wherever and whenever we can. Our menus are created and curated based on the best available ingredients cooked to the highest of standards and we really mean it when we say we love local suppliers.
At this time of year, we start to get excited about being able to use produce grown quite literally on our own doorstep. The venerable Bee, founder and director of Jacaranda and matriarch of both the business and directors Ian and Jonathan, enjoys having a wealth of wonderfully grown groceries right outside her house.
Bee’s neighbour, Peter Delves, has been a market gardener all his life, so he knows his stuff. Now in his 80’s, Peter tends the ancient gardens outside Woolhouse and grows the most fabulous natural produce including strawberries, raspberries, runner beans and new potatoes (but not just any new potatoes; really nice ones like they used to be before supermarkets got involved).
We use as much of this home grown produce as we can throughout the summer. There is something incredibly satisfying about not just knowing where the food has come from and how it’s been grown, but also being aware of its comparatively tiny carbon footstep and having an enormous sense of personal pride in watching our own produce go out on our clients’ plates.
