Whilst the rest of us were out sunning ourselves during the last May Bank Holiday, Brendan Spooner was busy vowing to take Kate Bosworth to be his lawfully wedded wife; to love and cherish her, comfort and support her, in sickness and in health. As they stood within the pretty surroundings of St James’s Church, Elstead, the sun beat down warming the day for their later wedding reception at The Walled Garden, Cowdray.
Kate chose a stunning David Fielden wedding dress called Grace Kelly. Not only did it epitomise the elegance and style of its famous namesake, but Kate’s wedding dress also perfectly complimented the traditional surroundings of The Walled Garden.
With 83 of their closest friends and family on hand to witness the nuptials, Kate stepped into the church to the sound of The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba. The couple and their guests also enjoyed music from Handel during the ceremony, before Kate and Brendan stepped out into the magnificent afternoon to be transported to The Walled Garden in a classic Morris Minor.
Kate’s mother, Marvic, was responsible for the flowers and design of the day, bringing her great depth of knowledge from her own boutique, The Flower Room, in the South West to Brendan and Kate’s wedding here in Cowdray Park. Both St James’ Church and The Walled Garden were absolutely bursting with fluffy cream hydrangea, pale pink peonies and soft neutral peach roses.
Whilst enjoying their drinks reception in the picturesque grounds of The Walled Garden, Brendan & Kate’s guests also indulged in some canapés including:
Sussex lamb fillet with aubergine, sun-blushed tomatoes and olives
Thai duck and mango salad on a teardrop spoon
Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with horseradish and watercress
Salmon fishcakes with watercress aioli
Caramelised red onion tartlets topped smoked applewood cheese
Manchego cheese and ham hock croquettes
For their wedding breakfast, the newlyweds chose:
~ To Start ~
Roasted beetroot & red onion tart with minted feta
~ Mains ~
Tarragon chicken wrapped and stuffed with pancetta, seasonal vegetables and potato gallete
~ Dessert ~
Lemon cheesecake served with fruit coulis and fresh berries
Kate and Brendan opted for a three tier chocolate Guinness cake in subtle pinks to match the rest of their colour scheme, with more fresh flowers from Marvic to compliment the pretty confectionery.
It was a privilege for us to be involved with Kate and Brendan’s wedding. “We had superb attention from our event manager, JJ,” Marvic said. “But there were just too many favourite parts of the day for us to pick one!”
