“We wanted our wedding to be very relaxed and so we incorporated all the things we love together. Good food, meeting friends at the pub, live music and beautiful scenery were all included in our wedding day!”

“After going to several hotel weddings we decided they weren’t for us and so we started looking at different venues tha would allow us the freedom to choose our own suppliers so we could put our own stamp and personality into our wedding. When we found Rotherwick Village Hall we were really pleased with its quiet village location and even better…it was cheap, allowing us to spend more money on the things that mattered (aka food and alcohol!).”

“After we had our ceremony, we wandered down to the local village pub with our 85 guests, where we celebrated our start to married life. When we initially told people we were going to the pub on our wedding day everyone thought we were crazy, however it went down brilliantly on the day and really set the tone for a relaxed and fun day.”

“Fitting with the informal theme we decided on a barbecue, however we still wanted really good quality well cooked food and this is why we chose Jacaranda. They even accommodated our request for our special recipe Indian marinade for the salmon which we love to cook at home and reminds us of our amazing holiday to India.”

Sarah & Simon’s menu included:
~ Starter ~
Lamb kofta with mint yoghurt
Char-grilled halloumi,
Spiced aubergine salad and tabbouleh served on a slate
~ Main Course ~
Butterfly legs of Southdown lamb marinated in garlic and rosemary
Garlic, sweet chilli sticky chicken skewers
Marinated whole salmon wrapped in banana leaves served with various salads
~ Dessert ~
Fresh berry and elderflower jelly with lemon posset, crushed meringue and vanilla ice cream served in a kilner jar on slate

“When we both called each other the wrong names in our speeches it got quite a big laugh! Two of the guests splitting their trousers…one before church and one on the dancefloor, was also memorable!”

“The live music we had was also excellent: we had a solo guitarist who played songs from the Beatles and Fleetwood Mac in church and carried on playing at the drinks reception in the pub. We also had a live band in the evening who got everyone on the dancefloor, we were very impressed!”

“We were both so happy throughout the whole day watching everyone else share in our celebration,” Sarah said. “However, at the end of the night as the band were playing Don’t Look Back In Anger by Oasis as the last song, everyone picked us up on their shoulders and Simon and I felt on top of the world looking at each other on our wedding night with all our friends and family holding us up and grinning back at us. (Im told there were a few hairy moments when a slightly worse for wear best man almost dropped me but it was incredible!)”
